Hello reader! in this lesson, we are going to learn ‘Use Of Let‘. It means to allow someone to do something; not to prevent or forbid. It is used in the imperative expression.

जब किसी को कुछ करने की अनुमति देना चाहें तब आप का प्रयोग करेंगे।

Use Of Let

Let’s understand ‘Use Of Let‘ with help of some examples:

  • Let him say first!

– पहले उसे कहने दो!

  • Let us enjoy this weekend!

– हमें इस सप्ताह के अंत का आनंद लेने दें!

  • Let them do their own way!

– उन्हें अपने तरीके से करने दो!

  • Let me introduce myself!

– मुझे अपना परिचय देने दो!

  • Let her choose her favorite ice-cream flavor!

– उसे उसके पसंदीदा आइसक्रीम स्वाद चुनने दें!

  • Let him make a call to his father up!

– उसे उसके पिता को फोन करने दो!

  • Let them play football in the playground!

– उन्हें खेल के मैदान में फुटबॉल खेलने दें!

  • Let her make a cake for a birthday!

– उसे जन्मदिन के लिए केक बनाने दें!

  • Let me drive the car!

– मुझे गाड़ी चलाने दो!

  • Let me have some food!

– मुझे कुछ खाने दो!

Dear learner as we have learned ‘Use Of Let’ in the imperative expression so it doesn’t mean that we can’t use it in other expressions even we can also use it in any situation present, past or future depends on the tense.

  • He never let me study well. (Present Indefinite)

– उन्होंने मुझे कभी अच्छे से पढ़ाई नहीं करने दी

  • She doesn’t want to let you down. (Present Indefinite)

– वह आपको निराश नहीं होने देना चाहती

  • They are letting you enjoy with friends. (Present Continuous)

– वे आपको दोस्तों के साथ आनंद लेने दे रहे हैं

  • I will not let you hurt. (Future Indefinite)

– मैं तुम्हें चोट नहीं लगने दूंगा

  • I didn’t let him steal the money. (Past Indefinite)

– मैंने उसे पैसे चुराने नहीं दिए

Now, start having a conversation with help of ‘Use Of Let’ (Present Tense):

Question: Do you let ___ the first form of verb____?

Reply positively: Yes, I let you _ the first form of verb____.

Reply negatively: No, I do not/don’t let you_ the first form of verb___.

Now, start having a conversation with help of ‘Use Of Let’ (Past Tense):

Question: Did you let ___ the first form of verb____?

Reply positively: Yes, I let _  the first form of verb____.

Reply negatively: No, I did not/ didn’t _ the first form of verb___.

Now, start having a conversation with help of ‘Use Of Let’ (Future Tense):

Question: Will you let ___ the first form of verb____?

Reply positively: Yes, I will let _ the first form of verb____.

Reply negatively: No, I will not/ won’t _ the first form of verb___.
